Visiting the city of Florence is reminiscent of learning history and Italian culture at its finest, with historical statues like the David and decadent Renaissance paintings wherever you go. If you are looking for a place that is easily accessible when traveling with a baby, the Hotel Calimala is the spot for you. Whether there is sun or rain, you can dine at ANGEL Roofbar without leaving the hotel, and they even played the World Cup game on the big screen.

The 38-room boutique hotel is located in the bustling Centro-Storico neighborhood, with views of the markets and leather goods from your window. Launched in 2019, the building has a 19th-century Eclectic architecture-style, restored and redesigned by architect Alex Meitlis. You are greeted with black and white marble all around as you enter the lobby, and in complete Florentine fashion, you can feel the artistic heritage and roots with a contemporary finish.

The selection at ANGEL Roofbar & Dining was mouth watering and hip at the same time, with light fares including marinated fish, labneh and hummus dips, in true Mediterranean style. You can also have breakfast on the rooftop for beautiful scenery, boasting a floral garden patio and 360-degree views overlooking the city. The chef is from Tel Aviv, Mor Micheli and offers live musical performances and weekend DJ sets.

The Duomo Spritz is a classical favorite with a Twist of spritz, using Aperol and Campari and if you are vegetarian, you should try the Fake Atini: Crostini “fegatini” vegetarian made with white onions, walnuts, eggplants, garlic and eggs or a Carpaccio in Crosta: Homemade crostini with beef carpaccio, aioli, rucola, balsamic vinegar and Parmigiano Reggiano.

I visited during the cold holiday season, and lugging the stroller around was no easy feat. I made sure to keep warm with my Jules B Rino and Pelle Joela coat. Beautifully crafted in sustainable faux fur for a soft feel, this coat is perfect for keeping warm in the winter. I even used the two side pockets to hold my phone and wallet while I pushed the stroller. The waterproof nylon with faux fur inside Jules B Sorel Whitney II boots kept my feet and socks completely dry when it rained- Florence is tiny and totally walkable! Leo and I visited many of the sites like the Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio and the local shops around the city! All in all, Florence has a mix of old and new and is a must-see when visiting Italy.
