Swim Week Recap of the Best Shows!

On July 8th at 7pm, the Washington Avenue Business Improvement District hosted and presented the WAVE Fashion Show, featuring five designers, and swanky models who strutted top looks down an 80-foot runway between Washington and Collins Avenue, activating Espanola Way East. Paving the way for positive transformation on Washington Avenue (WAVE), the show was titled “Pink Influence.” Guests were greeted with a pink-themed fiesta, filled with pink balloons, gelato, flowers and a step and repeat to boot, spelling out WAVE. MC Kayln James wore many of the designers’ looks with fun tunes by DJ Nuny Love and DJ Dinero.

The resort wear fashion show occupied an entire block and showcasing designers included the Designer Enrique who’s boutique Sol De Mar has been a staple located between Washington Avenue and Collins for 15 years, Lila Nikole, House of Athlete, Muurswagg, and RosMio. WAVE partnered with non-profit Silent Victims of Crime and donated a percentage of proceeds to empower children of incarcerated parents by providing educational enrichment, social support and positive mentoring, founded by Tinkerbell.

“With the positive changes happening on Washington Avenue like the Goodtime Hotel, Moxy Hotel, art and cultural activities, we now have our first mural on Washington Avenue, new lighting, cleaner streets, new clubs, bars and restaurants, wrapped electrical boxes and historic banners streaming down the avenue.” said Troy E. Wright, Executive Director.
